Biography
In addition to making these comics, I also work on book design and special projects for TopatoCo, the world's most interesting artist-direct merchandise website. In the past, I've been a professional movie trailer editor, a volunteer search & rescue pilot, and a freelance firearm specialist for film & television. Sometimes all at the same time.
In 2009, I began turning down all other work to focus on Wondermark and TopatoCo, and currently I'm one of the small (but growing!) number of individuals making a living in the exciting medium of Comics on the Internet™. My income comes mainly from sales of interesting products, patron sponsorship, as well as (in much smaller measures) private art or design commissions, speaking and/or consulting about all this nonsense, and the sale of advertising on this site.
I have two online stores at the same time. My pals at TopatoCo sell my apparel, prints, posters, and lots of other fun items like mugs and bags. Via my in-house store, I also sell greeting cards, magnets, stickers, and occasional other special handmade items.
In addition to creating comics, I also speak on the subject of history, the comic strip medium, advertising, and business. I live in Los Angeles with my wife Nikki and some kid we had, and I love kittens.
