I've read all my challenge books but still have a couple lined up so may as well mention them here. I've just read This Princess Kills Monsters by Ry Herman. It's a fairy tale retelling of 'The Twelve Huntsmen' but there is a lot of nods to other stories in there. It's got positive LGBTQIA+ representation too. I've got quite mixed thoughts because I had tons of fun with it, I loved the setting and the riffing on fairy tales and it was genuinely charming and funny for most of the book.

I felt it struggled a little when it got into the heart of the story to the point where I have a phrase, 'the plot got in the way of a good story' and it didn't quite hit the spot with it's bigger themes. Still liked it a lot but felt a little disappointed because of what it could have been.
