I think you're probably in the majority, Sable. I wasn't sure if there'd be much interest in this type of challenge but I thought maybe, just maybe, there'd be other readers like me who have a preference for female authors. Plus, I was trying to force myself to stop deleting male authors from my TBR list.

It seems to me that male authors tend to write a lot of action, violence, war, and politics, whereas women focus more on story development, psychology, and relationships, which I much prefer. For years I didn't even think I liked sci-fi because I did not enjoy reading the "old men" (Heinlein, Asimov, Dick, et al) but I've discovered that I do enjoy sci-fi that was written in the last 10-15 years, though usually by female authors.

Some female recommendations for you? Well, these are some of my favorites.....

Solitaire by Kelly Eskridge
The Unseen World by Liz Moore
When She Woke by Hilary Jordan
Station Eleven by Hilary St John Mandel
The Drowning Girl by Caitlin Kiernan
Liz Jensen
Jess Richards
Lydia Netzer
Scarlett Thomas
