If you look at the entire list of authors sorted by last name, Michael H. Payne comes first. Not sure why. After Payne the ordering appears correct; the next name is Rachel Aaron and the last name is Markus Zusak.

This one is fixed. Turns out the author's last name was accidentally entered into the suffix field so he had no last name. The display didn't look odd though because it just showed his last name as a suffix right where the last name should be. Thanks for pointing out the issue!
