Random quote: "Swords, Lances, arrows, machine guns, and even high explosives have had far less power over the fates of nations than the typhus louse, the plague flea, and the yellow-fever mosquito. Civilizations have retreated from the plasmodium of malaria, and armies have crumbled into rabbles under the onslaught of cholera spirilla, or of dysentery and typhoid bacilli. Huge areas have been devastated by the trypanosome that travels on the wings of the tsetse fly, and generations have been harassed by the syphilis of a courtier. War and conquest and that herd existence which is an accompaniment of what we call civilization have merely set the stage for these more powerful agents of human tragedy." ― Hans Zinsser, Rats, Lice and History

I recently finished reading Farthing by Jo Walton. It is in WWE because it was nominated for three awards. There are two sequels that are not in WWE because they were not nominated for any awards. They are Ha'penny and Half a Crown.

 Thanks,

Rhonda

And she got nominated for the Nebula for "Among Others". I'm sure we'll see more of her work on WWEnd now :-)

We've got those 2 on our list now but we've already got about 200 or so in the queue for jynnantonnyx.  He's going to town though so it should not be a very long wait.  And yes, we tend to add a bunch by the same author when they get a fresh nomination.  You guys wouldn't want it any other way

Walton's Lifelode is also excellent but missing. It won the 2010 Mythopoeic, speaking of which, hopefully jynnantonnyx's queue includes the Mythopoeic (and the Pringle Fantasy 100). I see that's he's really been going to town on adding new books - woot! The David Ohle books are interesting additions - they've been on my someday list for a while now, but there's sooo much to read...

I see that jynnantonnyx has really been going to town
