I don't really see a speculative element in the descriptions I found. Sounds a bit like the Da Vinci Code written by someone who can actually write to me.

Uber User Posts: 629 ![]() Location: New Zealand | Hey Valashain I have read The Mirror Thief, and I would say it fits the Magical Realism category we have here. It's kind of an historical thriller with a side-order of magic. Edited by Weesam 2016-05-29 7:43 PM

Regular Posts: 99 ![]() Location: Belgium | I haven't read it, but In addition to what Weesam wrote, Goodreads also listed it among the new SFF books to look out for this month, and I have read comparisons to Cloud Atlas...

Uber User Posts: 1057 ![]() | bleebs - 2016-05-30 4:54 PM I have read comparisons to Cloud Atlas... Those comparisons are being made because it has three different storylines in three different times in history, something Cloud Atlas also did. But some of Cloud Atlas' storylines are in a hypothetical future. None in this book are -- and I've read several reviews where people complained about being misled by that comparison However, Weesam has read it and says it is magical realism, and I've seen a couple of reviews which mention alchemy and magic, so it's probably sufficiently speculative.

I actually gasped when I read your request.  I could have sworn we had that series in already.  For any Ubers reading this, I have all the covers for these so you won't have to chase down the art.
