So, what are the thoughts about this movie? I enjoyed the visual effects. But overall very disappointing. The reviews that best explains my exact sentiments, are with Locus:

I was a lot less disappointed in John Carter. I even enjoyed Men in Black III more than Prometheus.

I enjoyed it, overall. I just think that the writers tried to bite into some very large questions, and then choked on what they bit off. They asked some big questions, and answered those questions only with plot holes.

There were some intense scenes, though, including the medical bay/surgery scene.
