So we passed another milestone today:  1,001 women authors in the database!  316 of whom were added this year alone which is well above last year's 206 new women added.

For the record we have 2,036 male authors so a 2-1 ratio of men to women overall.  I don't think that's too bad overall and I'm quite happy with the last few year's progress.

And another round of thanks for all of you who requested new books by new authors, women and men, and of course to our Uber Users who did the heavy lifting.

The New and Improved Romie Futch by Julia Elliott (Tin House Books, 2015) -- she's already in the DB as author of The Wilds

Through the Valley of the Nest of Spiders by Samuel R. Delany (Magnus Books, 2012) -- obv. he's in the DB

(And I know this should be only for authors in the DB, but: Zachary Jernigan doesn't appear to be in the DB, and he has two really good fantasy novels "No Return" and "Shower of Stones", both from Night Shade Books; also missing is Mark L. Van Name, who has a series from Baen Books which includes Children No More and No Going Back, among others. Another author I was surprised to find missing is J.M. McDermott, whose debut novel Last Dragon is fantastic, and he also has additional books from both Night Shade Books (his Dogsland Trilogy) and Apex Books.)

Anthology to add: "Onward, Drake!" (Baen Books, 2015)

James Maxey is in the DB, but some of his books are not:

* Bitterwood, Dragonseed, and Dragonforge (from Solaris Books)
* Bad Wizard
* Nobody Gets the Girl

Also not in the DB, some excellent anthologies from Panverse Publishing: Panverse One, Two, and Three, and "Eight Against Reality", all edited by Dario Ciriello.

Nick Mamatas is in the DB as an editor, but his novels aren't here: Move Under Ground, Under My Roof, Sensation, The Damned Highway: Fear and Loathing in Arkham, Bullettime, Love is the Law, and The Last Weekend; also his collection The Nickronomicon (Innsmouth Free Press).

Not in the DB: Molly Tanzer, or her novel Vermillion (Word Horde, 2015) or collection A Pretty Mouth (Lazy Fascist Press).

Gail Z. Martin is in the DB but quite a few of her novels are missing: War of Shadows (Orbit, 2015, Book 3 in The Ascendant Kingdoms), as well as all 4 books in her Chronicles of the Necromancer series (The Summoner, The Blood King, etc.) and her two most recent novels, Deadly Curiosities (Solaris Books, 2015) and Iron & Blood (Solaris Books, 2015, with Larry Martin).

Lew Shiner is in here (hooray!) but his collection Collected Stories is not.

Matthew Kressel and Margaret Killjoy are not in the DB.

Michael Rowe's "Enter, Night" (ChiZine, nominated for the 2012 Sunburst Award) is not in the DB.

Kevin J. Anderson's Clockwork Angels is not in the DB.

Clay and Susan Griffith's first "Vampire Empire" trilogy is here, but missing are their 2015 books The Shadow Revolution, The Undying Legion, and The Conquering Dark (all in the Crown and Key trilogy from Del Rey) and their new Vampire Empire book The Geomancer (Pyr Books).

A big bunch of books by Manly Wade Wellman:

* Battle in the Dawn: The Complete Hok the Mighty (2010) [C]
* John Thunstone novels What Dreams May Come (1983) and The School of Darkness (1985) and the collection The Complete John Thunstone (2012)

Nathan Ballingrud is in the DB (for his excellent collection North American Lake Monsters) but his 2015 novella The Visible Filth (This Is Horror) needs to be added, so I can include it in my 2015 award-worth list.

Alan Smale isn't in the DB; his 2015 novel A Clash of Eagles is a likely nominee for next year's Sidewise Award (he won the award recently for a novella in the same universe).

Did you really read Delaney's Through the Valley of the Nest of Spiders?  It's one of the few books I've given up on.  I'd read his other (non-genre) hardcore gay porn books (The Tides of Lust and Hogg), but after having read 200 pages of Spiders, I decided I just wasn't interested in reading the next 600 pages.  Delaney certainly has a fixation with various bodily fluids and substances...

Twilight Company is nowin. We're only allowed to add newtitles once the cover has been released, and the cover for The Force Awakensis not out yet (the book is not being released until 2016). Remind me once the cover has been published, and I'll get that in for you.



Yeah, no cover and no synopsis, as of yet. That's exactly why I've held off. It's on my list to add for the first of the year as well.

Location: Great Lakes, USA		@valashain and illegible_scribble - thanks! I watched Space 1999 when it was originally on and I thought it was dated then. I have always been into astronomy and couldn't figure out how the moon could be blasted out of Earth's orbit without destroying civilization on Earth and destroying the colony on the moon. But, I figured it was fiction and it was nice to have something set in space to watch besides Star Trek reruns. I'm sure it's really dated now.

I've just seen Dave's email after not being about much recently. Pleasantly surprised that some Warhammer books are being added now. I'll rain kisses on eager upturned cheeks if the Gotrek and Felix series ends up being added. If any help is required with the books I'd be happy to help and also have the bonus of a bunch of reviews too!

These should be mostly in now. I added Jennigan, Van Name and the Onward, Drake anthology. McDermott is in too but I only added his debut novel so far. Will look into the rest tomorrow.

I'm plugging away at these Warhammer novels, I will be adding more tomorrow (hopefully), but I have to take my Papa to Dr. first. I will jump forward and do your Gotrek series, I will be looking forward to the reviews (and the kisses).
