Synopsis
Nebula and Sturgeon Award nominated novelette. It originally appeared in Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine, January 1989. It was published as a limited edition chapbook by Hypatia Press in 1994. The story can also be found in the anthology The Year's Best Science Fiction: Seventh Annual Collection (1990), edited by Gardner Dozois and the collection The Inheritance and Other Stories (2011).
