You'll find find that Sanderson's work is not typical "Sword and Sorcery". There is purpose and planning at incredible detail.

That's the truth! In fact, he comes really close to making his magic systems so rigorous that they don't feel like magic anymore. That he never quite falls over that edge is a testament to his genius.
