Perry Rhodan had returned from the moon in Spaceship Stardust accompanied by two of the Arkonides. But the earth was on the verge of an atomic conflict. So Perry Rhodan, Peacelord of the Universe, threw an impregnable forcefield around the Stardust and declared his ship independent of the warring nations.

As he had hoped, the holocaust was temporarily averted by the more deadly threat of his allies from the stars; but could Perry Rhodan keep the peace long enough to persuade the Arkonides that mankind was fit to enter their galactic community?

The star-roving Arkonides had taught Perry Rhodan the secrets of their highly advanced technology, and now his task was to construct a huge starship to open communication between Earth and the mighty Arkonide Empire.

But the nations of Earth, in their fear, destroyed the remains of the lone Arkonide ship on the moon – setting off an alarm to summon retaliation from the war bases of the stellar empire.

As the massive space-fleet of galactic dreadnoughts headed for Earth, its mission to turn the planet into a radioactive wasteland, only Perry Rhodan had a chance of stopping the onslaught. But for how long could the tiny planet of Earth continue to hold off the enormous war-forces of the mighty star empire?

Perry Rhodan, leader of the Third Power, had managed with the aid of extra-terrestrial super-science to unify the warring factions of Earth. Humankind now stood at the beginning of its greatest Golden Age.

But suddenly there came a new enemy, an alien force whose aim was to destroy all other intelligent life in the universe. Their most terrible weapon was the ability to take over human bodies with their minds, while imprisoning the human minds within their own monstrous insect-like bodies.
