Biography

Steven Savile is a British fantasy, horror and thriller writer, and editor with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and a Master of Philosophy in Comparative Religions. He dropped out of a PhD in English to emigrate to Stockholm, Sweden in 1997.

Savile started out writing and reviewing play-by-mail games in the U.K. in the late 1980s, then launched his own company, Pheonix Games (intentionally misspelled), before working for Games Workshop. His first-ever story sales were to 'lads mags' in the UK. You'll never find them. He used 12 different names.

He has written numerous novels and shorter fiction set in the Star Wars, Stargate, Jurassic Park, Primeval, Fireborn, Risen, Warhammer, Pathfinder, Slaine, Dr. Who, and Torchwood universes. His published work also includes standalone novels and numerous short stories contributed to magazines and anthologies, and he has edited and co-edited numerous anthologies. He has been published in a dozen languages and sold more than half a million copies of his novels and stories worldwide.

Savile was a runner-up for the British Fantasy Award in 2000 and in 2010, and won the 2009 Scribe Award for Best Young Adult Original Novel presented by the International Association of Media Tie-In Writers. Tau Ceti, co-written with Kevin J Anderson, won the 2013 "Lifeboat to the Stars" Award as the best work of science fiction contributing to an understanding of the benefits, means, and difficulties of interstellar travel.

Savile supports the London-based football club Tottenham Hotspur.
