Tor is an imprint of Tom Doherty Associates, LLC. To date, no other single publisher has won so many awards in the SF/F category. Sold in the 1980's to St. Martin's Press, Tor is now part of the Holtzbrink group. Tor publishes some of the biggest names in the two genres, including Isaac Asimov, Orson Scott Card, Glen Cook and Larry Niven. "Tor" is not an acronym, but comes from the old English "tor", as in hill.
