Biography
Katherine Fawcett was born in Montreal, raised in Calgary, has lived in Japan, Tucson, Canmore, Yellowknife and Pemberton, and now calls Squamish, BC, home. She started her writing career as a sports reporter before venturing into freelance journalism and commercial writing. After becoming a mother and turning forty, Katherine could no longer ignore her tendency to dance fancy jigs on the boundary between reality and imagination, and turned her hand to fiction.
Her most recent books, The Swan Suit (2020, Douglas & McIntyre) and The Little Washer of Sorrows (2015, Thistledown Press) were both shortlisted for the ReLit Awards. The Little Washer was a finalist for the Sunburst Award for Excellence in Canadian Fiction of the Fantastical.
Her short fiction has been published in literary magazines across Canada, including Geist, Prairie Fire, Wordworks, Event, Freefall, subTerrain, Other Voices and more. Her plays have been performed by theatre groups throughout Western Canada, including Squamish's Between Shifts Theatre.
