Synopsis

The Jules de Grandin series is not numbered but this is the fifty second published story of such.
This novelette is included in the collection The Complete Tales of Jules de Grandin volume 4 "A Rival From the Grave".
It first appeared in the September, 1933 Issue of Weird Tales, available free on Internet Archives.
